What is sarcopenia?

Sarcopenia, defined as age-associated loss of skeletal muscle mass and function, starts sometime after we turn 30.  Loss of muscle mass may be accelerated in those who do not exercise, have chronic diseases, insulin resistance, and nutrition deficiencies caused by dieting or illness.[1]
